Back In Town

The family and I drove down to Phoenix Wednesday night to spend time with our friends.  All in all, I had a great time and the highlight was the zoo down there.  I snapped a bunch of pictures of the animals and hands down they have the coolest carousel I’ve ever seen.  (The overweight, tatooed, shirtless guy who was riding said carousel at the time we happened by was the piece de resistance {fr. sp?} for me.  I wish I had a picture of that!)  Got some squished pennies out of the deal as well, which I am a HUGE sucker for.  On the way out of town, we visited where Nick was buried, and I found comfort in this: while I do not understand why Nick was taken out of this world, I know I will see him in the next.

We got back Sunday night to the remnants of snow around the house.  I’m glad it usually doesn’t stick around.  What I am glad for is that once we take our sins to the cross, Jesus makes us whiter than snow in the eyes of God.  How amazing that is as I see what I once was: covered in the stain of sin.  Please, reach out and ask Jesus to come in.  The joy is indeed unspeakable.

P.S.  My apologies on the ducks…I blew my picture order and need to bring the camera in tomorrow to fix it.

Finally Someone who’s Doing It Right

A big pat on the back for the denizens of Oklahoma, who had the mettle to enact a law that will deport illegal immigrants when arrested.  The law, which goes into effect Thursday, also is rumored to cut off government funding for illegals as well.  I heard this first on the radio yesterday, where in Tulsa alone, 23,000 illegals are leaving in droves.  Again, I’m not against people coming to this country to make their living, but there are rules in place that should be followed for doing so.  (See various previous posts on Nick, Phoenix, and my original immigration rant.)

Soooo, What’s New?

Well, it’s been kinda thin for posts as of recently, so I intend to make up for it now.

First off, Wil Harris has a great new tech show called Unwired.  I got a chance to watch it on Saturday, and I was impressed with the cutting edge tech and the simple straightforward format.  Please support the lad and watch all that happens on Channelflip

Secondly, Brian has been posting again at Randomthink.  He’s all crazy on Halo 3, and as I only own legacy nintendo consoles, I go to him personally for all my gaming news.  Also in the development phase; Brian and I might try to put out a web comic.  More on that as events warrant.

Thirdly, let me put the bug in your ear about bluegrass gospel.  There’s a fabulous album out there called Gloryland: 30 Bluegrass Gospel Classics that I’ve been listening to for about the last 2 months.  Sometimes it causes me to tremble, indeed!

Fourthly (o when will it end?), Phoenix is still a city under siege by illegal alien criminals, please keep this in mind as we head into the election season and let’s get someone who says they will reform immigration to let the honest in and keep the deviants out.

And finally, the Lord God has more love for His children than even His children can possibly imagine.  Don’t believe me?  He left a whole book about it called the Bible.  Take a moment and just start reading John’s gospel.  I think it’s comforting to know that there is something else besides this world and its values.
