And now that it’s over…

I hadn’t written since the election and upon that thought, I wish to build.

First off, my answer came election eve, and I would say that if there was an evangelical swell for McCain, it wasn’t enough.  The moment Obama won, I put the kids to bed and we prayed for our future leader to have Solomon’s wisdom.  We pray for our leaders in this house, whether we agree with them or not.

Secondly, I received this comment on my Palin post: “Seriously? I wonder if your views have changed from when you wrote this and I’m glad you are in the minority.” I laughed out loud as I read it.  Thank you, concerned citizen, but my views haven’t changed in the slightest.  It turns out the media continues to negatively focus upon Palin, and even though she pardoned a turkey while another got slaughtered behind her this week (the whole pardon thing is rediculous to begin with), I still think back to what my mother said to me the weekend after she spoke at the convention.  She said (and I paraphrase) “Finally, a woman I can look up to”.  I look forward to seeing more from Palin in the future.

And now I have two more posts to write, and am going to try the slug feature on wordpress.  This concludes 2008 election coverage for me.  Thanks for stopping by.

Can I Vote for Palin Instead?

Listen, I’ve pretty much decided on voting ‘Undecided’ in this election.  It was this and holding my nose and pulling the lever for McCain that I kept going back and forth on.  And initially, when Palin was announced, I shook my head and clung to my Bible and gun (I kid! I kid!(no, really)).  But coming into work this morning I listened to Palin’s speech as I was unable to watch it as I once again wrestled with the swamp cooler (this time, losing horribly).

She…was…perfect.

I got to know about her and her history, I got to hear how her governorship of Alaska has been a fiscal success, and I came to realize that this is a person who, for me, is the face I want America to present world: strong, confident, no nonsense.

Sure, she’s veep, but I now can actually breathe a little easier and not throw my vote away on purpose.  Go Sarah Go…and John too, I guess.
