Oof, here it is the end of the workday and I almost forgot to post duck! Yes, another devil duck this week, which reminds me how Jesus spent more time talking about Hell in the the new testament than Heaven. The warnings are there written out, it might be time to take a look at them. The best part, though, is that it’s true that all a sinner like me has to do is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, ask for His forgiveness, and to come into my heart like I did on October 11, 2001. That’s it!! How amazing! Let Him in. He’s been waiting.

Wow! It’s been 6 people in the last week either moving to a different contract or leaving the company entirely. It really makes you assess your own current situation. I am in the blessed position of being paid a decent wage, while not having to go traveling to the field to produce. I stay in the project office and amass all the reports that get passed on to the customer. Money’s still tight, but I get the notion that it’s better than having too much money to deal with. And then I consider what could be out there. I’m intensely loyal to my company, but have been burned by that before in previous situations. I do want to get deeper into technology, but I feel so out of it when I read job requirements. It’s better to be not satisfied in this regard. And THEN, I consider what I’m doing for the Lord. Am I going out to all the nations to tell them about Jesus? We had some missionaries fromThailand at church last night, and they really brought to focus that the more people hear the word, the better. Are you working for the Lord? I’d love to hear your story in the comments if you are.

I realize that I may be attracting some unwanted attention in this post, but I think sometimes the right thing is to stand up for what you believe in. I also don’t know if alot of people are clamoring for this, but it’s time to start.
Enough preamble.
Harken to me, ye black hats. Ye scofflaws of cyberspace. Ye who make money and gain power in the zombification of unprotected systems. Ye spammers, spoofers, and iMafia. I have been called by my Lord and God to demand the following.
CHANGE
YOUR
WAYS.
You may notice I did not call you “hackers”. That title would be too good for you. You disappoint me. You waste my time, electricity, and server space. Take a moment to consider what you are doing and who it is affecting. You willingly sow seeds of destruction. Think about trying to do something that would be beneficial rather than malignant. Your coding may be able to cure cancer, improve economies, colonize planets, induce goodwill. Your time could build houses, clean water, make friends. God knows I cannot change you, but God also knows that if you accept His Son, Jesus Christ, ask forgiveness, and go to sin no more, that He will pour out His blessings unto you. All I ask is you give Him a chance, and everyone else a break. Release yourself from these chains you willingly wear and stop placing your trust in things that will burn (1 Corinthians 3:11-16). Sincerely,
Jason Pieper

It seems that I should put out some sort of concrete measurement of what I want to achieve with this site (I think Merlin would approve). So I’m going to throw some out there and see how the next year shapes up.
1) Have a site with values firmly ensconced with the values of Christ.
2) Have an income producing site to the point that it’s self maintaining.
3) Have a site that’s as amusing to me as it is to everybody else.
Now, as long as I continue to ask myself “am I meeting these goals?”, from time to time, we’ll be just fine. I did for a moment consider changing this to a tumblog (a la Leo Laporte), but it seems a bit too drive by for what I want to accomplish.
I do want to give a big thanks to Brian over at Randomthink. Brian’s put up with me for quite a few years and most recently helped me set up the whole database side of Wordpress. I didn’t even know what I was getting into, but I gave him a call and he came to the rescue. Please go see what he and his wife Lisa are up to.
And here’s duck number 2. I will be working on thumbnails and size over the next week. Should be fun!
