Sights and Sounds

Last Sunday night I was in a choir concert for First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho and it went very nicely.  I had a solo that I’m considering posting the video to, but I have a hard time editing on the old desktop I have.  I have been stalking CompUSA ever since they have decided to go out of business, but I still can’t afford new even with deep discounts this year.  Dreams for next Christmas for sure.  Anyway, it’s a great song about how the birth of Jesus really was just the starting point to everyone’s journey to have a personal relationship with God.

Enough

Has anyone listened to Jeremy Camp’s “Enough” off of the WoW worship Red Album (Disc 2)?  I think I just listened to it 8 times in a row.  It just reminds me how much God can play a role in our lives if we only would let him in.

Amazing Grace

Well, we started up Netflix again, and watched Amazing Grace, which was a great movie that I will be purchasing when I have a little extra lying around. The story is William Wilburforce’s fight in the English Parliament to abolish slavery at home and abroad, and how it intricately ties to his faith in God. Truly an amazing accomplishmet, given that slavery was somewhat transparent in England, as slaves for the most part worked the plantations of the Caribbean. It just reminds me that with a little faith and a lot of courage, people have, and will continue, to accomplish the seemingly impossible. God bless the defenders of the faith.

And hey, it’s Christmas! It’s another chance to say God sent His Son down to save us all. I hope everyone has a joyous time and contemplates their relationship and how they can make it better. Let God’s face shine upon you.

Giving Thanks

It’s a pretty special Thanksgiving for me and so let the thanking begin!  I’m thankful for a God who cares, and is willing to sacrifice His only Son in order to bring me to the kingdom (John 3:16).  I’m thankful for the best family a man could ask for, that while we had a turbulent year, can still love and laugh together.  I’m thankful for this site and anyone who’s passed by, as it has been an excellent outlet for things I’ve had simmering for years.  I hope those who have read or just looked at the pictures of ducks have enjoyed themselves.  I am thankful for Brian, as our friendship grows in many regards.  I am thankful for David, who introduced me to the world of podcasting, and Carol, who continues to remind me that “there’s always next year”.  I’m thankful for a good job to get up for in the morning.

And lastly, a very special thanks to those who have donated to the museum.  These people give expecting nothing in return.  I hope to someday be able to return the kindness.

May God grant us all peace and rest for this holiday.

Soooo, What’s New?

Well, it’s been kinda thin for posts as of recently, so I intend to make up for it now.

First off, Wil Harris has a great new tech show called Unwired.  I got a chance to watch it on Saturday, and I was impressed with the cutting edge tech and the simple straightforward format.  Please support the lad and watch all that happens on Channelflip

Secondly, Brian has been posting again at Randomthink.  He’s all crazy on Halo 3, and as I only own legacy nintendo consoles, I go to him personally for all my gaming news.  Also in the development phase; Brian and I might try to put out a web comic.  More on that as events warrant.

Thirdly, let me put the bug in your ear about bluegrass gospel.  There’s a fabulous album out there called Gloryland: 30 Bluegrass Gospel Classics that I’ve been listening to for about the last 2 months.  Sometimes it causes me to tremble, indeed!

Fourthly (o when will it end?), Phoenix is still a city under siege by illegal alien criminals, please keep this in mind as we head into the election season and let’s get someone who says they will reform immigration to let the honest in and keep the deviants out.

And finally, the Lord God has more love for His children than even His children can possibly imagine.  Don’t believe me?  He left a whole book about it called the Bible.  Take a moment and just start reading John’s gospel.  I think it’s comforting to know that there is something else besides this world and its values.

Almost Forgot!

Oof, here it is the end of the workday and I almost forgot to post duck! Yes, another devil duck this week, which reminds me how Jesus spent more time talking about Hell in the the new testament than Heaven. The warnings are there written out, it might be time to take a look at them. The best part, though, is that it’s true that all a sinner like me has to do is to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, ask for His forgiveness, and to come into my heart like I did on October 11, 2001. That’s it!! How amazing! Let Him in. He’s been waiting.

Back in the Distributed Saddle Again

Yep. I’m back with distributed.net’s program of breaking encryption schemes. At least there’s a chance of prize money if you happen to get the key. I know this is a short post today, but the 4th has thrown off my writing schedule. Hope everyone celebrated their independence. God gave us independence as well so that we can choose his path over ruin. Go to God and let Him know what you decided.

Safari Not So-Goody

I was just listening to This Week In Tech #101 and it turns out that two hours later over 100 security flaws were found in the Safari browser for Windows.  Woops!  As to whether the blame is on Apple or on Microsoft remains to be seen, however, I’m still behind browser competition, or any competition for that matter.  Anyone for tennis?

I have about 4 more ducks waiting to be received by friends Franz and Brian, and that leads me to 1 duck away from a duck a week for the first year of this blog.  Donations are wayyyyy up this month.  I’ve also talked to Brian about a widget for the wordpress contest that appeals to my geekitude.  I can think things up, but I can’t get much farther than the drawing board.  Brian has the black belt in coding.

And on the self improvement front, I got Dave Allen’s “Getting Things Done” and actually got up and ran this morning.  It’s time to streamline my life physically and mentally.  Spiritually, I got God, and God is good.
