A Great Quote

“If women don’t participate in this context (free/open source software development), software will work for them by accident and not by design.” - Fernanda Weiden on FLOSS Weekly #22

Seems to me this can apply in a broader sense to everyone for everything.  Take out the word software and enter politics, or even faith.  Just really struck a chord today. :^D

A Very Special Guns and Monkeys Christmas

So here’s the top 2 gifts by volume rating of Christmas:
1) guns - Ping Pong ball guns with either air pressure or spring action
followed closely by…
1) flying monkeys - monkeys you slingshot across the room while inertia activates the monkey scream

Too much!  Also stalking CompUSA paid off by getting a dsl modem and a usb 2.0 card for cheap.  I will have highspeed access by 01.02.2008!  I am having trouble with the usb card though as my system continuously reboots when installed.  I hope usbman.com will have the answer for me.

Merry (teh) Christmas!

Santa and a Reindeer duck!

TWiMs-mas Past

So as the year winds down and ‘casters take a holiday break, I listen to old ‘casts of yore.  The particular one I listened to today was This Week In Media’s #62, and I love when Alex Lindsay talks about God being the One Programmer in the aftershow in regards to “flocking” (01:06:49 for those who pay attention to timecode).  He may not have been exactly serious, but it’s really hard for me to not see God in all the details.  Take a moment just to consider how all that goes on around us may not be a coincidence.  It boggles my mind and then I just give it back to Him.

I will try to post a duck next Monday and write a few things here or there, but I want to wish all that stop by a blessed Christmas.  Thanks for considering this site a destination in a huge sea of information.  I have indeed been blessed by all who stop by.

Sights and Sounds

Last Sunday night I was in a choir concert for First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho and it went very nicely.  I had a solo that I’m considering posting the video to, but I have a hard time editing on the old desktop I have.  I have been stalking CompUSA ever since they have decided to go out of business, but I still can’t afford new even with deep discounts this year.  Dreams for next Christmas for sure.  Anyway, it’s a great song about how the birth of Jesus really was just the starting point to everyone’s journey to have a personal relationship with God.

Enough

Has anyone listened to Jeremy Camp’s “Enough” off of the WoW worship Red Album (Disc 2)?  I think I just listened to it 8 times in a row.  It just reminds me how much God can play a role in our lives if we only would let him in.

Something In The Works

I know I’ve said a few things before about various projects, but I think I have a GREAT idea that I will be presenting to someone over the next two weeks.  I have a hard time not blurting it out so that someone else would take it, but it would be a big break onto the internet, which seems to be the newest frontier.  Please pray for me and my desire for wisdom in pursuing this venture.

Lijitimized!

I dug a new widget out of Leo’s blog from Lijit.  The best way to describe Lijit is that it’s a personalized social search engine that collects data from everything done by me on the internet.  The thing I like about Lijit is stats, stats, and more stats!  I like seeing who looks me up, when they are looking, and what they were looking for, and Lijit is somehow able to pick all that up while allowing for a search, tag cloud, and even a “surprise me” button which I believe will take the clicker to a random spot somewhere in the museum.

Oh what fun it is to track in a one horse open sleigh!
